How to Spot a Performative Pride Campaign vs. Real Allyship
Every June, brands light up in rainbow but not all support is created equal. At Good Trouble Fashion, we know the difference between performative Pride and real, year-round allyship. Here’s how you can tell.
1. Temporary Logos, No Action
If a brand only shows up in June and disappears in July with no donations, no support, and no representation behind the scenes that’s rainbow washing.
2. No Queer Ownership or Leadership
Authentic support starts from the top. Real allyship includes queer founders, team members, and voices shaping the brand year-round. (We are Queer Owned & Operated! 🏳️🌈
3. Silence in Times of Crisis
Where was that brand during anti-trans legislation? Or Black queer organizing? Real allies speak up, especially when it's uncomfortable.
4. Year-Round Representation
Look for brands that show diverse, queer models year-round not just in Pride campaigns. Inclusion shouldn’t be seasonal.
At Good Trouble, we don’t do Pride for profit we live it every day. Shop what real allyship looks like at Good Trouble Fashion. #GAYOWNED
